A Commissioner in the Ebonyi State, has been killed in Anambra State by alleged kidnappers.
The source claims that the incident took place, on Saturday night, at Umunya community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State between 9:00 and 10:00p.m.
According to the source, the lawyer who died was enroute from Abakaliki to Onitsha to attend a child dedication when the incident happened.
Further information revealed that the deceased allegedly stopped to rest at Umunya along the Enugu/Onitsha Expressway when he was approached by the suspected kidnappers.

As the deceased struggled to escape from the kidnappers, the suspects allegedly shot him in the stomach and fled with his vehicle, phone, and the phones of the other passengers in his vehicle who were travelling with him to Onitsha.
The deceased was rushed to Immaculate Heart Hospital, Umudioka, where it was confirmed that he had passed away, according to Chairman of the Abakaliki Lawyers Association, Barrister Victor Alo, who spoke with newsmen on the phone.
However, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, could not confirm the incident as of press time because, in his opinion, such information had not yet reached the Command.
