Ebonyi CJ to inaugurate Law Reporting Committee on judgement of Courts, as judiciary disposed 31,580 cases during 2018/19 legal year
The Chief Judge of Ebonyi State Justice Amselem Nwaigwe, has restated that the State Judiciary has concluded arrangements to inaugurate a law Reporting Committee to report judgements emanating from both High Courts and Magistrate Courts in the State.
In a similar vein. a total of 31,580 cases were disposed of in High and Magistrate Courts during the 2018/19 legal year.
Justice Nwaigwe made the assertion on Friday while delivering an Address at a Special Court Session marking the commencement of the 2019/2020 legal year of the Ebonyi State Judiciary.
He said that the Committee shall be adequately equipped to commence work in concrete terms, stressing that the High Courts Rules shall also be reconstituted towards achieving the desired result.
“We intend to commence the Reporting of the judgements of our Courts in the state, in the coming weeks we shall be inaugurating a law Reporting Committee”.

“The High Courts Rules Committee shall also be reconstituted and enabled to review our High Court Rules” he reiterated.
The State Chief Judge disclosed that a total of 15,310 cases were disposed of in High Courts across the state while 16,270 cases were disposed of in Magistrate Courts during the 2018/19 legal year.
Justice Nwaigwe said that the State had in August 2019 domesticated the Administration of Criminal Justice Law which has repositioned the Criminal Justice System .
He assured that the judiciary under his leadership would witness improvements and greater achievements notably improved Welfare package of judicial officers in the new legal year.
Earlier in his speech, Governor David Umahi commended members of the state judiciary for their steadfastness and commitment in upholding the virtues of transparency and forthrightness in the adminstration of Justice to the people.
He assured members of the state judiciary that the State Government would map out pland for judiciary infrastructure in January 2020.
The event had in attendance Judges of the Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of Abia, Imo, Enugu and Anambra State respectively. members of the Nigeria Bar Association Ebonyi State Chapter, members of the State Executive Council and the former Chief Judge of the State Justice Alloy Nwamkwo among others.
