Eagles need to play with more commitment, repay NFF’s support -Egbe

By George Aluo

FIFA match agent, Ebi Egbe, has tasked the Super Eagles to play with more commitment as they go into the knockout stages of the ongoing AFCON 2019 in Egypt.

Egbe who like other Nigerian football stakeholders is still writhing in the pains of the team’s shambolic performance against Madagascar, on Sunday, noted that the NFF has done enough in the area of supporting the team to deliver, even as he wondered why the boys should not fire on all cylinders.

“Nigerians expect more from the Super Eagles. They did not play with enough commitment in the game against Madagascar. They approached it as if nothing was at stake,” Egbe stated.

The Bayelsa State born football buff pointed out that a team that had quality preparations and made very comfortable ahead of the Nations Cup should not have allowed itself to be distracted by the bonus row that reared its ugly head before the game against Guinea.

“What we saw in the match against Madagascar was no doubt a hangover of the bonus issues that cropped up before the game against Guinea. I don’t think the boys would be fair to the NFF if they fail to rise to the occasion.

“The soccer federation in spite of the distractions at home has done well for the boys. Before the World Cup in Russia, they got virtually everything that was due to them.

“They had the best of preparations and were treated as kings just as professional clubs do in Europe. This is also the same situation going into AFCON.

“The team right from Asaba were treated as kings. They jetted out to Egypt in good time in a chartered flight and played several quality pre tournament friendlies.

“There is no Nigerian national team that has been so pampered, so I wonder why the issue of bonus should rear its ugly head in their camp.

“The boys should re double their efforts and repay the NFF for the massive support given to them,” Egbe said.
