Dwindling Oil Revenue: Ebonyi inaugurate 19-man Economic/Investment Team to fashion out blueprint for economic development

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has inaugurated a 19-man Economic/Investment Committee with the mandate to fashion out blueprint  geared towards enhancing the economic development of the State.

Inaugurating the Committee on Tuesday at  the Government House Abakaliki the State capital, Umahi represented by his deputy Kelechi Igwe, said that the Committee was constituted to work out strategies that will lead to higher productivity both in governance, industrialisation and Commerce.

He restated that the State Government in its bid to develop economically, established various legacy projects and industries.

“Unfortunately, these industries are not functioning optimally, the government being proactive desires that this industries function in its established installed capacity.

The Governor expressed optimism that the Committee members would work out modalities and recommend to the government means of getting the industries back on track.

“It is because of your value, integrity and knowledge that the government feel you can do the job effectively and proficiently”

The State Chief Executive named members of the Committee to include the Commissioner for Information Barrister Uchena Orji, his counterpart in Agriculture Mr. Ogodo Ali Nomeh, the Commissioner for Local Government Chief Samuel Okoronkwo, the Commissioner for Economic Development Chief Donatus Njoku among others.

Umahi said that the Committee has 30-Days to submit it’s report and recommendations to the state government.
Responding on behalf  of the Committee, the Chairman who doubles as the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dr. Uchena Orji assured that the team would live up to expectations and turn in report that accelerate the economic development of the State.
