Dudu-Orumen tasks newly elected Edo FA board

Honourable Henry Asemota, the newly elected chairman of the Edo State Football Association and other members of the board, have been enjoined to give football in the state a new lease of life.

Godwin Dudu-Orumen, Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, gave this charge on Thursday during a courtesy visit to his office by members of the FA board.

Congratulating them on their election, Dudu-Orumen urged Asemota and his colleagues on the board to be focused, committed and dedicated to the task for which they have been elected into the board. He enjoined them to build on the achievements of the immediate past board and to strive hard to bring back the spirit and passion of football in Edo State.

“Football is a way of life in Edo State. In no state in this country do you have the passion for the game as we have here in Edo and very few states can match Edo State in terms of achievements in the game or the quality of footballers produced for our male and female national teams since its creation,” Dudu-Orumen said. The Edo State Sports Commission boss who advised the board to  develop and run a Work Plan with activities that will be rewarding to all stakeholders, promised to assist and guide them at all times new Board all the time.

Responding to the Sports Commission’s boss comments, Hon. Asemota said he and his team were at the Commission to pledge his loyalty to the commission and the government and people of Edo State. The Edo State FA boss said the commitment of the new board to take football in Edo State to new heights even as it consolidates on the achievements of the immediate past board.

“We are mindful of the challenges before us and we will not waver in our determination to faithfully commit ourselves to the task of transforming football in Edo State to the level where the government and people of the state would be satisfied. We assure you, Mr Chairman that in doing this, our loyalty to the Commission and to the government and people of Edo State, will remain unshaken,” Asemota said.
