Driver’s licence: FRSC warns motorists against patronising touts

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Osun State has warned motorists seeking driver’s licence to refrain from patronising touts, saying they may be prosecuted if caught.

The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr Peter Oke,  gave the advice when he visited the office of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Osogbo, on Wednesday.

Oke said the commission would prosecute any motorist caught with fake driver’s licence in line with the extant law.

He said that a genuine driver’s licence with three years validity goes for N6,350 while the one with five years validity goes for N10,650.

He urged motorists to always go to the appropriate unit of the commission for the renewal and issuance of new driver’ s licence.

Oke also appealed to the motorists and other road users to exercise patience at all times,  especially during the Yuletide.

The Sector Commander, who noted that there was nothing like “evil spirit’’  on the highways during the ember months,  urged motorists to imbibe road safety culture and maintain good driving habits.

Oke said the personnel of the commission would always embark on patrol during the Yuletide to ensure the safety of lives on the highways.

He also commended NAN for ensuring adequate and timely dissemination of information on the activities of the commission.

Oke said the commission would continue to partner with NAN in the area of information dissemination and safety awareness on the road. (NAN)
