The Indian ocean Island nation of Madagascar on Sunday announced its first COVID-19 death, sparking doubts over the efficacy of the herbal remedy it claims can cure the virus.
Madagascar has reported 304 cases since the virus was detected in the country two months ago.

Though the World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned against “adopting a product that has not been taken through tests to see its efficacy,” many African countries have expressed interest in the herbal tonic, some even placing order for it.
Only on Saturday, President Muhammad Buhari received the herbal medicine at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, in Abuja but insisted it would be subjected to scientific tests before it is administered on Nigerians.
