The first female professor of Computer Science in Africa,Adenike Osofisan, has advised Nigerians to keep their private lives and activities away from social media.
She gave the advice on Thursday while delivering the convocation lecture of the Trinity University, Lagos.
The lecture was with the theme ‘Disruptive Technology: The Ambiguous Friend?’
She gave a true identity of computing and information technology in this current age, an analysis of its blessings and evils, and a framework for its right application for a better world.
She said, “We have this disruptive technologies which we cannot do without because they also do a lot of great things for us.
We must be aware of, for instance, social media. You have to be careful because you don’t know who can use the information against you in the future. Don’t put all your history on social media. You can learn skills online and other educative things but don’t put too much about you or the pictures of your children, and grandchildren on social media.”
