….Reveals Plan to Expand Executive Council
Bayelsa State Governor, the Honourable Seriake Dickson on Wednesday said the appointment of five new commissioners into his cabinet was part of efforts to reposition the government for greater service delivery.
Governor Dickson made the assertion during the swearing-in ceremony of the commissioners at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, in Yenagoa.
A press release by his Special Adviser on Media Relations, Mr. Fidelis Soriwei, quoted the governor as saying that the fresh appointments were inspired by the need to inject fresh hands to the government.
The Governor hinted that more appointments would be made to expand the Executive Council.
Governor Dickson challenged the commissioners to take advantage of their wealth experience to contribute to the development of the state.
The Governor who charged the new commissioners to exhibit a sense of loyalty and dedication, stressed that he has confidence in the capacity of the new commissioners to perform to expectations.
He said “I have had the honour and privilege in the last seven years or so to invite worthy and deserving sons and daughters to serve in various capacities.
“And by so doing in my own way, also contributing to the development of manpower; to give opportunities to people, expand their frontiers of experience, give them an opportunity to know first hand and feel what it means to serve our people which can be an interesting and tasking experience.
“More will be invited to join because i have had people working with me in the last seven and a half years, some for as long as i have been governor here. And we feel as we get ready to cross the finishing line, there is need for injection of more fresh blood that we hope and pray will bring additional energy, vitality and focus to bear in their respective assignments.”
The newly sworn in members of the state Executive Council are, immediate past Leader of the state House of Assembly, Dr. Peter Akpe, former state lawmaker, Hon. Baraladei Daniel Igali, Hon. Ebitei Robert Tonyon, Barr. Tesufa Alex Dumbo and Hon. Churson Obosi.
