Justice Rahmon Oshodi of a Lagos Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, Ikeja has sentenced a medical doctor, Femi Olaleye of Optical Cancer Care Foundation to life imprisonment for defiling her wife’s niece.

The judge had dismissed the convict’s “no case application” for lack of merit after the prosecutor proved the allegations beyond reasonable doubt.

Dr Olaleye was convicted and sentenced on two counts of charges filed against him by the state government for having unlawful sexual intercourse and sexually assaulting the victim by penetrating her mouth with his genitals.

His offences contravened Sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

In her judgement Justice Rahman Oshodi held that the prosecution proved the two counts of defilement and sexual assault by penetration against Olaleye, adding that the evidence before the court was compelling and proven beyond reasonable doubt.

According to him, the confessional statement of the defendant which he made before his lawyer, Mr Olalekan Buruji and the DPO of Anthony Police Station that he regretted his act proved that he committed the offences.

The judge said that the oral statement which the defendant denied, had the NBA seal of Buruji on it and his denial did not hold water.

“You are a dangerous offender and you must be ashamed,” he said.
