David Mark, former Senate President, immediate past Minister of State for Education, Dr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and Hon. Chidi Nwogu, a former member of the House of Representatives, were among some Nigerians that witnessed the continued trial of former  Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice in Westminster Magistrates Court, UK.

The Ekweremadus are facing trial for alleged conspiracy to bring a minor, David Ukpo, who claimed to be 15 years old, to London for organ harvesting.

The Enugu West senator was arrested alongside his wife last month by the London Metropolitan Police for allegedly conspiring to bring a child to the UK for organ harvesting.

Ukpo had claimed that he was tricked to London without knowing that the couple intended to harvest his kidney for their ailing daughter.

However, a new twist was added to the case when it came up for hearing today when it was proved that contrary to the victim’s claim, he actually lied about his age, which was put at  21 years.

Bail application hearing was slated for later, as the case was adjourned to August 4, 2022.

Present in court to show solidarity with the Ekweremadus are some Nigerian senators led by Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa, Chairman, Senate Committee Foreign Affairs.
