The people of Esit Ikot Obori in Akwa Ikot Effanga in Akpabuyo Local Government area of Cross River, have selected Mr Bassey Effiom as the head of the community.
Mrs Mary Obori, the oldest woman in the community, while presenting Effiom for capping and induction into the clan’s council on Friday, said that his selection was done by all the stakeholders.
“Effiom was carefully selected by all stakeholders to fill the vacant position of our former monarch who has travelled to join his ancestors after serving Esit Ikot Obori meritoriously for over 10 years,’’ she said.
Obori added that the selection was unanimously accepted without any dissenting voice, hence his presentation to the clan’s council.

The new village head was a youth leader in the community until his selection by the elders and kingmakers.
Mr Okon Edem, the clan head of Akwa Ikot Effanga, while capping the new village head, advised him to be open to his people.
“You must also carry along your people in the affairs of your community as well as uphold the truth and ensure justice among your subjects, ‘’ he said. (NAN)
