As part of concerted efforts to cushion the impact of the Coronavirus lockdown order, an Ogun state based non-profit organisation, Gbani Foundation has donated a truck load of food items and essential materials to some communities in Lagos.
The beneficiary communities include:
Isheri- Orisa, Isheri-Ikosi, Kosofe and Magodo Phase 1 all located in Kosofe local government area of the State and were handed the items on Monday.
The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Oreoluwa Mary Opatimehin led other top officials to present the food items to the beneficiaries.
According to Opatimehin, the Coronavirus pandemic has presented a gaping hole that needs to be filled with simple, yet timely charitable acts, adding that such gestures form the fulcrum of the Foundation’s credo.
She noted that government alone cannot provide succor for the teeming populace at this trying period, hence the need for privileged individuals and organizations of Gbani Foundation’s ilk to complement government’s efforts in the fight against the scourge as the entire nation matches on to victory against the pandemic.

“The global coronavirus pandemic has had adverse effects on us all. It’s no surprise therefore that government has ordered a lockdown in Lagos, and other states. However, things have not been the same for people economically and other areas of human endeavor.”
“Gbani Foundation is a humanitarian organization with special emphasis on uplifting the poor and needy. We realize the need to help others at this period is at an all-time high. We therefore have to do our bit, irrespective of how significant, to ensure that we come out victorious in this war against this common enemy facing humanity.”
She, however, advised the beneficiaries and all to comply with Government directives to stay at home and follow the guidelines of NCDC which include strict personal hygiene and physical distancing.
Some of the community leaders expressed delight at the Foundation’s gesture, even as they called on more well meaning Nigerians and organisations to support the less privileged and vulnerable few during the lockdown.
