The Lagos State Government has urged informal business owners to protect themselves from the COVID-19 pandemic as they go about their businesses.
Mr Waheed Kazeem, the Acting General Manager of Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority (LASPEMA), gave the advice in a statement on Tuesday.
Kazeem said that there was the need for informal business owners to follow the health and safety tips announced by the federal and Lagos State governments.

He said that this was to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the safety of the entire state residents.
Kazeem urged the informal business owners to cease operating in clusters since the virus could thrive in such an environment.
”Car wash owners must wear overall, face masks and hand gloves when on duty and must reduce the number of vehicles to be washed at a time, to curtail spread of the virus.
”It is also important to reiterate the need for constant washing of hands with soap and water or cleaning them with alcohol-based sanitiser after each job,” he said.
Kareem urged auto dealers to observe social distancing when striking a deal with buyers, saying there must be total adherence to all guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
In easing the lockdown, the Lagos State Government had directed business owners to operate from 9.00a.m. to 3.00p.m.
Also, the Federal Government imposed a curfew from 8.00p.m. to 6.00a.m. daily to halt spread of the Coronavirus disease in Lagos. (NAN)
