…vows to shut down institutions that fail to embrace precautionary measures
Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi has declared that the State Government would commence the construction of Border Check Centers in all entry and exit points within the four states borders of Enugu, Abia, Cross-River and Benue States respectively.
In a similar vein, the government has threatened to shut down any essential Service Center notably Banks, hospitals and markets that fail to provide nose masks, running water, sanitizer and temperature recorders.
Umahi made the declaration on Tuesday in a state wide radio and television broadcast on measures taken by the government to prevent the outbreak of the corona virus in the state.
According to him, ” From today, 24th March, 2020 I would be the Coordinator of the Medical Team put together by the government to arrest the situation”
“We shall immediately commence construction similar of Enugu-Abakaliki border check centre in all the sisters states borders surrounding the state.

The Governor maintained that the state government had built two COVID-19 Quarantine Centers in Abakaliki and at the border with Enugu state located at Ishielu local Government Area of the State.
He urged all religious institutions to observe all the precautions and procedures to protect their members and the general public.
Umahi directed that all passengers to and from Lagos, Edo, Abuja and South west states must be recorded and submitted to the Ministry of Health on daily basis stating; “their mobile numbers are essential, to be provided to enable our medical team monitor them”
“From 26th March 2020, all entry and exit points to Ebonyi States shall be manned by our medical and security personnel, all vehicles and passengers shall be checked and passengers examined”
The Governor announced that the state government has purchased number of equipment like temperature, gauge, ventilators, and isolation cubicles stating that “the virology center built by the state would be deployed for blood samples testing of suspected Covid-19”
