Lagos State government on Friday ssid about 25,000 participants are expected at this year’s Countdown Fiesta and assured of provision of watertight security at the designated venues.
The year’s fiesta is tagged ‘Greater Lagos Fiesta’ and begins on December 29 to January 1. Unlike previous editions which were held for seven days, this year’s edition is a three-day event.
The countdown event is organised by the Lagos State government to usher in the new year.
The state’s Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka at a press conference said the state has put in place security measures that will prevent any form of violence during the three-day fiesta.
She added that security agents such as, the police, DSS, Civil Defence, LASTMA Neighbourhood Watch among others have been put on alert to ensure that the entire venues are secured.
Benson-Awoyinka added that the annual fiesta has over the years proven to be a very engaging and mind-blowing event, providing fun activities and entertainment for Lagosians in their various localities across the five Ibile divisions of the state.
Venues for this year’s edition would be at the five divisions of the state; namely: Ikorodu, Badagry, lkeja., Lagos and Epe,’ with activities taking place simultaneously. Some of the activities would include cultural dance, music concerts, children’s play, comedy among others.
The Commissioner added that A-list artists have been lined up to perform at all the venues
According to her, the annual end-of-the-year event, being the first in the second term in office of our Governor, will provide a non-stop 72-hour entertainment show.
