Council boss urges children to give attention to their studies

As the world celebrates Children’s Day, Nigerian children have been urged to give adequate priority to their studies in order to excel in life.

This charge was made by the Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, Mr Saheed Bankole at the celebration of the children’s day at Ikota primary school.

The council boss who was represented by his vice, Princess Adeola Adetowo Adeyanju, said education remains the bedrock of progress of any child in the world hence the need for them to be more focus and serious with their studies.

“Every child has the ability to become a success story and education definitely provides an opportunity for you to discover and express the hidden talents in you. What you learn in school, whatever training you are getting will determine what you make of your life and your future,” he said.

The event which witness match past, cultural display, quiz competition and dance and other fun filled packed activities was attended by parents, pupils, students and politicians in the local government area.

While addressing the gathering, Bankole said the council place special premium on education of the kiddies in the council reason it tagged this year’s children day celebration ‘make a child smile’.

“Days such as this is set aside to appreciate our children and give them a platform to mingle together in an atmosphere of camaraderie resulting in renewed determination to become capable leaders of tomorrow, that is why we tagged it ‘make a child smile’,” he said.

The council boss said education remains part of his administration’s cardinal objective hence reason for embarking on rehabilitation of primary schools within the council jurisdiction.

“Education is one of the key cardinal programmes of this administration and we have taken the bull by the horn in making the learning environment more conducive for our children. We have rehabilitated blocks of six classrooms and we are given a facelift to Itedo Primary School now,” he said.

Adding Bankole said: “In order to achieve hard work among children, my administration has resolved to commence inter-schools competition in the three domains of education namely, cognitive, affective and psychomotor. Inter school debates will feature in our schools henceforth”.
