Coronavirus: Don’t ask us to stay at home, no one will feed us and our Families, Nigerians beg Govt.

As more public places like worship centres, schools and other large gatherings are shut by Federal and states governments in Nigeria, there is fear that Nigeria may shut markets as more cases of COVID -19 are diagnosed in Nigeria.
Nigerians are apprehensive that they would be asked to stay indoors to avoid being infected with the Coronavirus.
Across social media platform, citizens have expressed fear that the government may resort to the drastic measures of shutting down markets across the country.
“There are many who depend on their daily income to sustain themselves and their loved ones, Ajani said on Twitter.
Others said before such measures would be put in place, the government should ensure that citizens are adequately taken care of.
“The Nigerian economy is strong enough to ask its citizens not to work or stay indoors,” economic analyst, John Chukwu said on a phone call.

According to Chukwu, Nigerians are hardworking and rarely depend on financial interventions by the government to survive.
Across advanced economies, governments have asked their citizens to stay at home as they take care of their basic needs like food, rents, mortgages and even paying stipends to those who might be laid off due to the ravaging effects of Coronavirus.
Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, announced that his government would give financial support to people during the Coronavirus outbreak.
He urged them to stay at home to slow the spread of Coronavirus.
“We’re going to be flowing income support to millions of Canadians,” he said.
President Donald Trump said his government would give citizens cash checks as they self-isolate and stay at home during the Coronavirus outbreak.
According to reports, Trump’s administration would give financial aid to every adult who have lost their jobs due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
“We’re looking at sending checks to Americans immediately. And what we’ve heard from hard-working Americans, many companies have now shut down whether it’s bars or restaurants. Americans need cash now, and the President wants to get cash now. And I mean now in the next two weeks,” Treasury Secretary, Steve Mnuchin said.
Across the world, governments are announcing stimulus packages to cushion the effects of COVID-19 on citizens.
Last week, Nigeria announced a reduction in the pump price of petroleum products due to the fallen price of crude oil.
Experts say this is unrelated to the outbreak of the virus. According to them, this is what should be done even where there is no outbreak of any virus.
