Anthony Iwuoma

Nigeria has won her fourth gold medal courtesy of 23-year-old Goodness Nwachukwu, who also broke the world record twice before emerging top of the pack.
Nwachukwu, who was Nigeria’s sole competitor in the Women’s Discus Throw F42-44/61-64 event, beat her challengers and set new records with her first two throws.Until now, she was the F42 World Record holder with the best mark of 33.35m but  improved on that distance with her first throw of 34.84m before taking it a notch higher with a throw of 36.56m.

Two members of Team Nigeria, Adijat Adenike Olarinoye and Rafiatu Folashade Lawal, also received special recognition for their record-breaking feats at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Expectedly, Nwachukwu receive similar   recognition before curtain falls on the Games

Earlier, before Nwachukwu’s gold medal feat, another member of Team Nigeria, Nnamdi Innocent, had won a bronze medal in the Powerlifting event through in the men’s lightweight category.
