He further said giving to the poor was a gesture he learnt while growing up from his parents who were known in the community for assisting the poor.
He added the cash and other materials he gave out will help to ameliorate the suffering of the less privileged in the area.
“I did this empowerment due to the situation of the country. Everything is hard for the people. It is not that it was so easy for me to do this but I believe in giving back to society. Since I emerged in my office for a third time, this is my first time coming out to say thank you to the people for the reelection. I want to let my people know I have not forgotten them. I feel so happy and joyful, I am moved to tears,” he said.
The philanthropist urged the people to use the cash gifts and the materials judiciously, adding plans are ongoing by him to establish a foundation to cater for the needy.
He urged his colleagues to emulate his gesture by giving back to the people.
