Collection of IGR on roads highways  streets remained banned in Anambra

Mr Uchenna Okafor, Anambra Commissioner for Transport said that all forms of collection of internally Generated Revenue (IGR) on roads across the state is illegal and remains banned in the state.

Okafor told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Monday that Gov. Willie Obiano’s administration was determined to provide a human face in its leadership but would not condone illegality.

The commissioner said that the state government had banned all forms of IGR collection on roads, highways and streets maintaining that the state government stood by its decision.
According to him, reports has reached the state government that some persons under the guise of federal government agencies were collecting illegal IGR on roads, highways and streets in the state .
Okafor said that government enforcement agencies had been mandated to arrest and prosecute any person or group collecting IGR on roads and highways across the state.
The commissioner said that its enforcement agencies would legally deal with any person or group of persons flouting its directives and urged persons involved to stop forthwith. (NAN)
