A pro-democracy coalition of 70 Civil Society Organizations (NGOs), under the umbrella of the Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), has given kudos to the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), over his concentration on the job of infrastructure development assigned him to do by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The commendation was contained in a statement in Lagos weekend from its National President, Comrade Razaq Olokoba where the Coaltion expressed the delights that, Fashola remained focussed throughout the period some of his colleagues were busy politicking for presidential aspirations, saying, “despite the pressure piled on the gangling Minister, he never wobbled for a second but concentrated fully on the job that has made him the cynosure of all eyes home and abroad.”
According to the statement, Fashola must have glued it at the back of his mind that, infrastructure development is very dear to to the heart of his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari and thus doesn’t want to disappoint him and by extension disappoint the Nigerian populace by slowing down the pace of work knowing full well that, “no nation develops economically and politically without standard infrastructure in place.”

The impressed political outfit is of the conviction that, “winning our periodic Integrity Tests by Fashola has never been a fluke after all,” asserting that, “even the blind can see that Fashola has proved beyond reasonable doubt that, he is a round peg in a round hole.”
It is against this backdrop that, the Coalition therefore urged the good people of Nigeria to support the Minister in the onerous task of building the nation’s infrastructure to the level of world standard, pointing out that, “right now, Fashola’s signature across the country is manifest indisputably and thus deserves to be assisted, supported and cooperated with.”
The CDG therefore reasoned along with the minister for not abandoning his job at his duty post to chase after another office when his love to serve his fatherland till the end of his mandate, believing however that, “Fashola, no doubt is eminently qualified to succeed his boss, Buhari in 2023 and his not contesting can never erase that fact.”
Concluding, Olokoba in the statement asserted that, “the people’s aspiration and love to have Fashola as their President is still intact and so Fashola’s presidency can never be wished away because in politics and in life, it is not over until it is finally and conclusively over,” stressing that, “at the fullness of time, Nigerians will decide who becomes their president using performance and achievement as a parameter to choose their leaders.”
