Chinyere made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Port Harcourt.

He said that to expand the scope of his free education and  empowerment scheme for the girl child, his church would inaugurate the first Girls Technical College in Nigeria.

The cleric said that the college located in Port Harcourt, would be administered alongside other free social services such as  primary/secondary school, and the free medical/ hospital services that would start on April 10 in Port Harcourt.

“Over the years, the girl-child had many times been denied education due to early marriage some were even forced into prostitution.

“In Nigeria, there are boys’ technical colleges, mixed technical colleges but there are no girls’ technical college in this country.

“This is the reason I decided to establish the first Girls Technical College to create an equal opportunity for the girl-child.

“Women are greatly marginalised in all strata of our economy and politics and of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, none has a female governor.

“In the National Assembly, we have only a handful of female representatives, same goes for the engineering fields.

“That is why we want to concentrate on giving the best technical education to the girl child to ensure that they add value to our society.

“The duty to a woman does not end in the kitchen, even as wife, she is supposed to be a helpmate to her husband not a kitchen mate.

“So far, OPM has invested several millions of naira on the Girls Technical College project and I want to advocate a better living standard for our young females and women by collaborating with relevant organisations,” he said.

Chinyere said that he would put necessary measures in place to drive women empowerment.

“We want to ensure that lots of girls benefit from our scheme, just yesterday, I received another batch of pregnant girls rescued by the Rivers state police command.

“These girls who were rescued didn’t know anywhere to go and so the Rivers Police Command brought them to me because they know we rehabilitate and empower such victims.” (NAN)
