Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, a retired Supreme Court Justice, has been appointed Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Her appointment comes less than 24 hours after previous Inspector General of Police Musiliu Smith resigned.

It was reported that Musiliu Smith resigned from his position, on Wednesday.
This came amid disagreement on which body between the commission and the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, should be responsible for the recruitment, promotion, and appointment of constables and officers.
The commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Until her nomination, Ogunbiyi was Commissioner I in the PSC and next in the hierarchy to the former chairman.
