Church distances self from impostors, warns members against divisive schemes

Nigerians have been urged to beware of ‘impostors’ parading themselves as new Board of Trustees of the Sacred Cherubim & Seraphim Church of Nigeria with a new leader for the church, who parades himself as new Baba Alakoso, saying the people were mere ‘mountebank’ determined to cause confusion within the Body of Christ.

This was made known to reporters in Lagos, on Tuesday, by authentic Baba Alakoso and General Superintendent of the Sacred Cherubim & Seraphim Church of Nigeria, His Most Eminence Most Elder Prophet (Dr.) Solomon Adegboyega Alao.

Recall that there had been a publication on some social media platforms lately from a group laying claim to the leadership of the church and purportedly headed by one Baba Alakoso Dr. Clement Taye Olatunji Olagoke JP who, together with some persons believed to be hell-bent on tarnishing the image of the church, were calling on Nigerians to recognise them as duly nominated and elected members of a new Board of Trustees for the church.

But speaking to journalists in Lagos, Baba Alakoso Alao, who is also the Supreme Head of the Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, dissociated his church (The Sacred Cherubim & Seraphim Church of Nigeria), which headquarters is at Orita Bashorun, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, from the group laying claim to the leadership of the church.

According to Baba Alakoso Alao, “It is strange and ungodly for some people who have benefited immensely from the church to embark on this kind of journey to bring the name of the church to disrepute.

“I hear people say the group now has a new leader who also parades himself as Baba Alakoso of Sacred Cherubim & Seraphim Church and I laugh. The question is if he is the real head of the church, where is his seat of power? Where is his headquarters located?. ” he asked.

Baba Alakoso Alao also urged the over 550 parishes under him in the church to disregard the antics of the group and remain focused in their service to God and the church.

He continued, “I don’t know how some people will allow themselves to be used by the devil to want to truncate the wheel of progress in a church of God. Of course, they cannot succeed as God will not allow His works to be truncated”.

When asked what he believed prompted the group into their latest move, Baba Alakoso Alao said greed and an attempt to syphon the hard-earned resources of the parishes must have been some of the reasons behind the group’s action.

Speaking to a member of the Board of Trustee of the church, who craved anonymity, he claimed that the Apostle Olagoke-led group only wanted to bring the good name of the church down and into public opprobrium which, he said, would not be allowed to stand. Said he.

” It has come to a time when these people should be put in their rightful place by the leadership of the church. First and foremost, we (the Trustees of the church) dissociate ourselves from these people. No one knows what their goal really is. A church that had been registered several decades ago and with a leadership that was elected without controversy, and you are trying to bring it down because of self-aggradisement and inordinate ambition. God will not allow that to happen though,” he said.

A lawyer, who is also a member of the church, and who does not want his name in prints, also told this reporter that the leadership of the church was seeking a peaceful resolution of whatever the grievances of the group were.

His words, “But as peace-loving people at the leadership of the Church, we are trying to handle the matter with internal mechanism aimed to bring everyone to a roundtable so they table their grievances. But failure to have the people cooperate with the leadership of the church, we will fight with criminality and civility.”
