A Chinese national has landed himself in deep trouble after allegedly killing his former lover in Kano.
The victim, who was identified as Ummukulthum Buhari, was killed at her Kuntau residence in the Janbullo general area of the state capital.
It was gathered that the graduate of Agricultural Science from Kampala University, Uganda, who is currently observing the mandatory one-year service of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Sokoto, was dating her alleged killer, Mr. Geng Quangrong, before dumping him for another man whom she later got married to.

However, the marriage was ill-fated and Ms Buhari returned to her father’s house to pick up the pieces of her life.
According to a source, Geng, her former Chinese lover, who was still bitter over the way she left him for another man, on Friday night reportedly scaled the perimeter fence of her house, sneaked into her room and murdered her.
Efforts by family members and concerned neighbours, who rushed her to the nearby hospital to save her life failed to yield any good result, as she gave up the ghost.
Geng, who was subsequently arrested by a mob, narrowly escaped being lynched by a combined team of the police and immigration officers, who raced to the scene, following a distress call by the victim’s mother, took him into custody.

Spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident and explained that the suspect, Geng, 47, claimed that Buhari deceived him by promising to marry him but dumped him for another man despite spending heavily on her.
Meanwhile, Geng has been transferred to the state police headquarters in Bompai where he is undergoing further investigation and awaiting prosecution.
