Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured students in the state’s education sector that his administration is ‘fully committed to providing tools and skills for them to excel.’
The governor spoke on Monday through his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, who represented him at this year’s Children’s Day celebration parade and rally at the police college, Ikeja, with the theme ‘ Advocate for children policies and actions that protect and support children’s well-being.’
The governor said since 2019, the administration has been ‘supporting and ensuring your happiness.’
He said the government has added nine new schools, completed 1,500 classrooms and brought over 11,000 children back to school.
The governor further said 2,000 teachers have been recruited for 10 subjects while safety of students have been priotise with fencing of all public schools and ongoing installation of CCTVs.
“We are committed to giving you tools to succeed. As a state, we are fully committed to providing skills and environment for you to succeed. I urge all our children to continue to dream by striving for goals. We would ensure no child is left behind, “ he assured.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education,Jamiu Alli-Balogun commended Governor Ssnwo-Olu for investing in education.
He enjoined the children to see themselves as the ‘future and hope of a greater Lagos rising beyond any challenge.
“ I must let you know that the administration of our governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has invested enormously in your education by providing all that you need to meet your true potential. You are the future of our dear sate and nation, therefore, I implore you to continue to challenge yourself and excel both in academic and co-curricular activities,” he urged the students.
Hr equally commended the teachers, parents and guardians ‘for always being a good role model for our kids.’
