The Bayelsa State Government, on Monday, said its free education policy has helped to reduce the number of out of school children in the state by over 90 percent.
Commissioner for Information and Orientation in the state, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said this in a statement to convey the good wishes of the government to all the children in the state on the occassion of the 2019 children’s day celebration.
Iworiso-Markson was emphatic in saying that as a top priority, the Restoration Government will continue to invest in education which is the only way to gurantee their future.
He urged children in the state to take their education seriously, stressing that with the robust education programmes put in place by the government, there is no excuse for any Bayelsa child not to go to school.

The Information Commissioner also urged them to shun drug abuse, cultism and other social vices that is inimical to their future, insisting that it is the desire of their parents and guardians as well as the government to see them become successful in their chosen careers.
The Government spokesman thanked First Lady, Dr. Racheal Dickson for her support to children, especially girl child education, saying as a true mother she has over the years hosted children on their special day.
While wishing them a happy children’s day, he also called on parents to always keep an eye on their children and monitor their behavioral pattern, particularly the kind of friends they keep.
