New kid on the block in the Nigeria music industry, Ijeomah Francis Chidi popularly known as CHIDONGPM has released the video of his new single ‘Plenty Plenty’ which is now making waves on all the streaming platforms.

Having spent 19- years living abroad, Chidon as he’s fondly called is introducing a new genre of music called GOD’S POP, into the Nigeria music space.

At a briefing to announce the release of the video of the new single ‘Plenty Plenty’ , Chidon said the purpose of his song is to ‘give hope to the hopeless.’

“My song has come to stay in Nigeria. It is to bring hope to the hopeless. The people who are suffering, when they listen to my music, they will have hope. What makes my song different is that some terms I used in the song are the ones people use on the street. I am not religious because I know people from different religions listen to secular music . So I felt we could bring all of them together with gospel music mixed with hip-hop, “Chidon said.

He added: ” My music is not ordinary music, It’s a fusion of gospel and pop music called GOD’s POP. I am different from other gospel artists. This is not gospel in the church, it’s gospel from the street.
The youth are turning their face against God because many musicians are making secular music, so I believe when they listen to my song, most of them can turn back to God. So my song is a gospel song made from the street just like Jesus Christ. He was born on the streets, the miracles he performed were made from the streets, everything he did were from the streets so Jesus chose me from the streets to bring hope to the hopeless.”

Born into a Christian home by a father who was a prophet and prophetess mother from Ideato in Imo State, Chidon said his Christian upbringing influenced his brand of music, noting that he will be working with other notable musicians in Nigeria, both young and old, especially Phyno.

“While growing up, my late dad made us understand God. He brought me closer to God. I know about his mercy and what he has done for me. As a young lad, I listened to Phyno. Sometimes he makes gospel music and sometimes he makes secular music. So I have some songs I would like to feature,” he said.

He said he decided to relocate to Nigeria after he was encouraged by his friends abroad to introduce his music to Nigerians because ‘they always told me to go back home that my people will like my songs.’

His manager, Onyika Emmanuel popularly known as MC Senator commended Chidon for being the originator of a new brand of music.

” It’s a genre of music that is fresh and he is the originator. It’s gospel music made from the street. The video was shot last year but it’s been released now. It is a song that will impact society,” he said.
