CDS charges Special forces to go after terrorists, hunger for success

 

 

Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, has tasked newly badged Defence Headquarters Special Forces troops to go all out against the terrorists.

He also urged them to remain humble and hungry for success.

Speaking at the Badging of the Batch 7 Graduands of the Special Forces Operation on Tuesday at the Headquarters National Mission Force in Bida, Niger.

Musa charged the graduands to stay true to values and principles that had been bestowed on them during their training.

He said the training had prepared them for the challenges ahead and enjoined them to be non-partisan in executing their mandate.

He added that the resilience exhibited by the new troops indicated the professionalism imparted to them and commended their transformation into warriors.

“As you move forward, I want you all to remember that your skills are not about combat but also about passion, empathy and understanding towards the people you are meant to protect,” Musa said.

Musa, who was accompanied by senior military officers from the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, told the troops that President Bola Tinubu appreciated them for their commitment to duty, saying he was delighted by their performance at the recently concluded Warriors Competition in Jordan.

On his part, Brig.-Gen. IM Falana, the Commander, DHQ Special Forces Brigade, said the training was aimed at equipping the troops with special and unique fighting skills and tactics.

He thanked the CDS for his unwavering commitment to the training and welfare of the services, which he said made it possible to record all the successes achieved so far.

Falana added that the event was a testimony to Gen. Musa’s leadership resolve to bequeath a well trained and professional armed forces.

The training lasted for 13 weeks, having commenced in January, with 124 participants, comprising nine officers and 136 soldiers.
