Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Limited, Ebi Egbe has congratulated Nigeria and Atlanta of Italy forward, Ademola Lookman over his victory as 2024 CAF Footballer of the Year, describing his victory as good for Nigerian football.
Lookman on Monday evening at Marrakech, Morocco beat off stiff opposition from Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, Cote d’Ivoire Simon Adingra, PSG’s Achraf Hakimi, Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy, and South African goalkeeper Ronwen Williams to claim the coveted award.
Speaking shortly after Lookman was announced winner of the prestigious award, Egbe noted that he was not surprised, considering his form for both country and club, which saw him help Nigeria qualify for the 2015 AFCON as well as help his club win the Europa Cup against Bayer Leverkusen.
“I want to congratulate Ademola Lookman for this award which to me is a victory for Nigerian football. The award has once again shown that Nigerian players are some of the best in the continent and when exposed to a conducive environment can compete amongst the best not only in Africa but in the world.”
Ebi Egbe used the occasion to appeal to both the federal and state governments to take the issue of providing good playing pitches serious as that’s the only way to produce more football stars for the country.
