Senate Minority leader, Sen. Eyinnaya Abaribe, on Wednesday, during the turn of Sen. Godswill Akpabio, to be screened among the ministerial nominees, lamented the tradition in the Red Chamber of allowing former colleagues to take a bow and leave the chamber without questioning.

Sen. Abaribe, who said he wished the tradition was not there, declared that but for that tradition, he would have made Sen. Akpabio sweat.

According to Sen. Abaribe, “I wish this tradition is not there I would have made Godswill sweat.”

The Senate Minority leader also told his colleagues that he had met with senators from Akwa Ibom State and they all gave their support to Akpabio’s nomination as a minister of the Federation.

He continued, “I have spoken to the Akwa Ibom caucus as the Minority leader and they told me that they were in full support of his (Akpabio)’s nomination.

“We want to wish you well and expect that you will represent this chamber well inside the Aso Rock villa. It is not the first time  the people go from here to be ministers in the Villa and become something else.”

Later Sen. Apkbaio took a bow and left the Red Chamber.
