A former Minister of Aviation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, has faulted the decision of Presidents of West African countries under the aegis of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, to appoint President Buhari as the ‘Champion’ to coordinate the COVID-19 response in the sub-region.
President Buhari had received thumbs up from leaders of the sub-region for the manner in which Nigeria had so far handled the pandemic.
In view of that, President Buhari was appointed ‘champion coordinator’ for COVID-19 response in the sub-region.
But in a reaction to President’s Buhari’s appointment, Fani-Kayode said the sub-regional leaders made mistake, saying “President Buhari can barely manage himself”.
He said ECOWAS would regret the appointment given to the President because it was an error.
The tweets said, “The greatest mistake that the ECOWAS leaders have made is to appoint @MBuhari as the leader of the fight against Covid 19.
“This is a cataclysmic error which they will deeply regret. He can barely manage himself & now you ask him to manage a sub-region of 400 million people?”
