Following the recommendation of Transport Minister, Chibuuke Amaechi,  President Muhammadu Buhari has approved an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to probe the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
In a statement Thursday night, the president’s media adviser,  Garba Shehu, added that Buhari also approved suspension of  the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala Usman, to ensure unhindered investigation.
The panel comprises the Director, Maritime Services, and the Deputy Director, Legal of the Transport Ministry as chairman and secretary, respectively.
The statement said Amaechi  will appoint  other members of the panel.
It is speculated that Usman’s suspension may not be unconnected to alleged misdeeds by the NPA management.
