President Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated with Chief Joseph Akpieyi, Chairman of Arco Group Plc and former Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Petroleum Refining Company, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
According to a statement by his spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Sunday, the President expressed gratitude to Akpieyi on his numerous contributions to the growth of the oil and gas sector in the country.
President Buhari noted that during the long years of meritorious service to his fatherland, first in his 26-year career in the public service, and later as a private citizen, Akpieyi was committed to creating employment opportunities for Nigerians to develop their potential in the petroleum industry.

The president said that many Nigerians who had come “in close contact with Akpieyi as former colleagues, associates, and admirers, proudly testified of his talents and exceptional leadership qualities, required of those wishing for a better tomorrow.’’
He also lauded Akpieyi’s profound work ethics that had inspired “many Nigerians who worked under his leadership in the oil and gas industry and for his devotion to the rapid socio-economic development of Nigeria.’’
The president wished the octogenarian more years of good health and fulfilment in his endeavours. (NAN)
