British Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid wants to put a coin commemorating Brexit into circulation, the Sunday Telegraph reported.
The 50-pence-coin was supposed to be issued as a limited collector’s item on the original EU withdrawal date of March 29.
But Brexit was postponed several times because parliament could not agree on the withdrawal agreement negotiated with the EU.
Now Javid wants millions of coins with the inscription “Peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations” to be put into circulation on October 31, the new Brexit date.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that the new Brexit deadline will be met, with or without a withdrawal agreement.
The chancellor’s move is seen as an attempt to convince the public, and the EU in particular, that the British government is serious about the October 31 Brexit date.
According to the Telegraph, the new coins are stamped with that date. Should – contrary to current expectations – Brexit be postponed again, the government could be in for for quite some mockery. (NAN)
