A Zamfara State security outfit, Community Protection Guards (CPD) operatives, have allegedly killed a prominent Islamic scholar, Sheik Abubakar Hassan Mada.
According to Blueprint, the CPG operatives were reported to have stormed the resident of Sheik Mada on Tuesday and picked him up to unknown destination.
He was said to be taken by the operatives for questioning as regards to insecurity issues.
Residents of Mada town who pleaded anonymity told Blueprint correspondent via telephone call said the CPG operatives stormed the resident of Sheik Mada and took him few metres outside the town and slaughtered him.
“They came direct to his residence at around 3:30pm when he was busy teaching our children and took him away, in not less than 30 minutes, we only heard that they slaughtered him,” he said.
As at the moment of compiling the report, efforts to get the state commandant of CPG Col. Yandoto rtd proved abortive.
Late Sheik Mada’s funeral prayers has been slated by Wednesday by 12:00 noon.
