Breaking: Rivers: Cease fire now, Jonathan urges Fubara, Wike
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has weighed into the political feud raging between Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and his godfather, Nyesom Wike, who is also the immediate past governor of the state and serving Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Jonathan urged the duo to cease fire and stop escalating political tension in Rivers.
Speaking while kicking off the construction of the N222.1bn Trans-Kalabari Road, the former president told Fubara and Wike to work together to advance the growth and development of Rivers State.
Jonathan insisted that Rivers State remained critical to Nigeria and also reasoned that the tense political situation was detrimental to the development of the state, and by extension would hurt the entire Niger Delta region, with consequent spiral effects on the country.
