Men of the Nigeria Police, on Saturday morning, arrested 22 protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate as a fulfilment of the promise of security agencies to clampdown on protesters at the area.
The Nigerian Xpress correspondent at the scene of the incident reported that the 19 youths were arrested while trying to alight from a van that conveyed them to the Toll Gate.
One of the youths, Damilare Adenola, who described the attitude ofthe policemen as ‘tyranical’, said he is a student and was at the Toll Gate for the protest.
Another youth arrested, who simply identified himself as Comrade Kehinde, said they were at the Toll Gate to perform their right to protestas enshrined in the constition.
Among those arrested is a lone protester who came in his car with a placard.
