National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Julius Abure, has been reportedly arrested for alleged fraud.
Mr. Abure was reportedly arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Benin-City, Edo State.
The report which was filed by an investigative journalist, PIDOMNIGERIA on the micro-blogging site, X formerly known as Twitter, says Julius Abure was arrested by the Police for fraud and other financial crimes.

Taking to X, PIDONMINIGERIA who had earlier accused Abure of fraud, wrote: “Breaking News!! Breaking News!! The criminal Labour Party @NgLabour national chairman Julius Abure @Julius_Abure, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police @PoliceNG for fraud and other financial crimes today in Benin, Edo state.”
Abure’s arrest came a week after the National Working Committee of the Labour Party slammed a six-month suspension on its National Treasurer, Oluchi Opara.

This suspension of the Labour Party National Treasurer was announced at a press conference on Wednesday at the Party’s Secretariat, in Abuja.
On Monday, February 12, 2024, Opara challenged LP National Chairman, Julius Abure, at a press conference to account for an alleged N3.5 billion raised from the sale of nomination forms and fundraising activities in the build-up to the 2023 general election.
While speaking on Arise TV’s ‘Good Morning Show’ on Tuesday, Opara again claimed the Abure-led NWC is working hand-in-hand with the Edo State Government which is governed by the opposition – the Peoples Democratic Party.
