Reports reaching The Nigerian Xpress newspaper now indicates that the senator representing Kogi West district in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has finally surrenders and is presently in the custody of the Nigeria Police Force.
A source at the Force Headquarters in Abuja confirmed this on Friday.
Police operatives had laid siege on the residence of the senator in the last week.
The security operatives, it was gathered, carried out a search of Melaye’s residence while he was taken to the office of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) in Guzape.
Although Sen. Melaye had earlier said he was not in the house, the police said he opened the door to the residence himself at about 3:00p.m on Friday after which he was taken into custody.
