Three minors aged six,13 and 16 have been arrested by the police in India for allegedly raping a 5-year old girl.
The incident happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district on Wednesday October 16, 2024.
According to the Superintendent of police Vikrant Veer, the girl’s mother reported the incident to the police which led to the arrest of the minors on Saturday October 19, adding they are undergoing interrogation.
Though the accused were minors, the police said they were arrested under the provisions of the Bharantiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from S@xual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Veer said police investigation revealed that the four minors were playing of their house when the other three accused raped the five year old.
“On the complaint of the mother of the five-year-old girl, the police have filed a case against the three children.The crime scene has been inspected with the help of a forensic team and legal action is being taken by identifying the three children,” police said.
