Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Thursday visited the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, at the police headquarters, Abuja following the December 25 murder of Mrs. Bolanle Raheem, who was killed by a police officer in Ajah, and sought for thorough investigation of the incident by the police boss.
The governor also said there would be no cover-up in the investigation and prosecution of the culprit (s) involved in the incident.
Sanwo-Ou told the police boss that he was in his office to discuss how the state government can collaborate with the police to ensure such an incident does not occur again.

“For me as the governor of the state, I think it is important and it is that serious for us to come here and get a sense of how soon we can get to charge this officer to court. And we have gotten a very positive response and engagement from the Inspector General of Police himself, ” the governor said.
Sanwo-Ou further told the IGP there is need for the Nigerian police to provide equipment like body cameras for it’s officers, adding a joint advocacy programme between the police and the state will improve public and police communication.
He assured that there will be no cover-up in the investigation as well as prosecution of the offenders.

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, assured the governor that there will not be any cover-up in handling the case of the deceased lawyer and the culprit.
“I can assure you that there is no going to be any hanky-panky on the issue. We will continue to improve on how our officers will engage in the use of a firearm. At the same time, we also want to appeal to Nigerians to be responsible. They should help the Police by way of supervision and making their work easy. I want to assure the members of the public that their case will be dealt with,” he assured.
