Boko Haram: Air Force fighter jet missing in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) said one of its combat helicopters engaged in the counter-insurgency war has gone missing.

The helicopter was said to have been lost in combat while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion at Damasak in Northern Borno State.

The Nigerian Air Force, made this known through the Director Public Relations and Information (DOPR), Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola.

The Air Force said the fighter helicopter got missing at about 7:45p.m, Wednesday night.

Daramola in a statement issued said “A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Helicopter was lost in combat while providing close air support to troops of 145 Battalion at Damasak in Northern Borno State.

“The mission was part of the ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the North East.

“The incident occurred about 7:45p.m today (Wednesday), 2 January 2019. Details of the cause of the crash are still scanty. As soon as the details of the crash are known, they will be made available to the public.

“You are please requested to disseminate this information through your medium for the awareness of the general public.”
