Chief Olabode George, a former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has clarified that he only spoke in parables and never meant to leave Nigeria if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wins the 2023 presidential election.
George had said during the electioneering campaigns for the election that he would relocate to Ghana if Tinubu, then candidate if the All Progressives Congress, APC, should emerge victorious.
However, Tinubu was not only declared winner of the election but his victory has been affirmed by the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal, PEPT, and the Supreme Court.

Speaking in an interview on Trust TV, George said “I was talking in parables, because I said how? And I can go and live anywhere I want.
“Look, I put in this year, it will be my 25th year in politics, 25 years in the military, 50 years of my life. I’m getting close to 80 now. What am I looking for? But to go and live where I can take a walk without looking back and forth at who is running after me and then that I can live in peace until the almighty God would call my flight.”
