Following Thursday’s attack of Madaka village in Niger State by gunmen suspected to be bandits, during which an unspecified number of people were killed, 30 corpses have so far been recovered, while no fewer than 50 houses were reportedly burned down.
The casualty figures are yet unknown but the Village Head, Alhaji Saleh Ahmad Kakuri, Commander of the vigilante and his Deputy Commander under the Madaka District of Rafi Local Government Area of the state were killed during the attack.
The attackers also raided Majanjan District in the same local government on the same day.

During the attack, Alhaji Salihu Immahuri, the Maianguwan (Village Head) of Anguwan Bala, and his two wives were also killed.
A traditional ruler from the area confirmed the incidents, adding the bandits operated u challenged by the security agencies for several hours.
“The bandits invaded the village around 3:30pm on Thursday. Over 30 bodies have already been recovered by the villagers. They operated for several hours without response from security agencies,” he disclosed.
He said the timing if the attack, which coincided with peak session of the market added to the high casualties.
It was also gathered that over 50 houses, including business places , were razed by the attackers.
“Over 50 houses including commercial shops, a number of cars and motorcycles were burnt down during the attack,” a source said.
“The suspected armed men stormed the village shooting sporadically, killed several people and burnt down the market.
“They also abducted an unspecified number of the villagers to an unknown destination. For now, we cannot say the exact number of people killed or abducted.”
