Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has reacted to a report allegedly sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state which claimed that the state-owned company, Taraku Mills Ltd, has been sold to a private investor.
A statement signed and made available to The Nigerian Xpress by the Chief Press Secretary to Ortom, Terver Akase, said the report was another lie from the propaganda factory of APC.
He also noted that the APC was a sinking political party which has sensed its impending defeat at the 2019 general elections and has resorted to blatant falsehood and cheap blackmail.

According to Akase: “We urge Benue people to disregard the rumour which is an indication of desperation from the Benue APC.
“The Ortom administration is reputed for acting in accordance with due process and wishes of the people and would therefore not have unilaterally sold Taraku Mills Ltd or any other state enterprise.
“It is now obvious that APC has nothing with which to campaign ahead of the elections. At all their rallies across the
state, they make Governor Samuel Ortom the object of verbal attacks and baseless accusations.
“APC should not blame the Governor for its imminent defeat at the polls as he is not responsible for the party’s dwindling electoral fortunes.”
