Bello, Amaechi, three other presidential aspirants allegedly secretly pick Senate forms

While the number of All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants jostling for the seat of president ahead of the 2023 general elections continues to rise, some of the aspirants have activated alternative plans should their presidency dreams hit the rocks.

Amongst those with plans to head to senate should their presidential aspiration fail are Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, a former Niger Delta Minister, Godswill Akpabio, Senate President Ahmed Lawan and Chief Ogbonanya Onu, former minister of Science and Technology.

A source at the APC national headquarters, said disclosed that the decision of former President Goodluck Jonathan to accept the nomination form of the party, pushed many aspirants to have a rethink as no one sure of the tide’s directions.

According to source, the party was yet unclear on the body language or direction of President Muhammadu Buhari, ahead of the general election.

“The buying of senatorial forms is on order for them not to lose out totally if push gets down to shoving.” The source stated.

Efforts to reach the campaign trains of the aspirants met resistance, however, a source in the Rotimi Amaechi campaign office, who pleaded anonymity said, the stories were mere rumours and could not be true.

According to the source, “the calibers of persons who meet with the Transport Minister on daily basis suggest that the Presidency highly favors his ambition and will support him.”
