Bayelsa loses Commissioner

Tony Olutomiwa/Yenagoa

The Commissioner for Local Government Administration in Bayelsa State,  Mrs. Agatha Goma, is dead.
Family sources said she died in her sleep at her residence on Sunday.

The 55-year old was a former member of the old Rivers State House of Assembly and had been a long serving commissioner in Bayelsa State.

She was the Commissioner for Education under Timipre Silver and appointed into the current cabinet  since 2016 commencing the second term of the Dickson administration in the state.
Although the cause of her death was yet unknown, family sources said on Sunday that she had been “very affected” by the loss of her husband who died early this year.
It was gathered late Sunday at her residence at the Commissioners’ Quarters in Yenagoa, the state capital, that doctors had examined her remains but the findings were not disclosed.
Several sympathisers were seen at her residence on Sunday who expressed grief and recollected fond memories of the late commissioner.
A young lady who identified herself as Rebecca Kimmi said the late Mrs. Goma would be remembered for her dedication to duty and her activities in the church where they both attended.
