Hours to the D-day of the November 11 guber elections in Bayelsa state, the Deputy Inspector General of .Police in charge of the South South , Mr Daniel Sokari Pedro has raised the alarm, says politicians are charging the already charged atmosphere by making inflammatory statements .
DIG Pedro who addressed journalists at the Police Officers’s Mess Yenagoa Thursday evening also alleged that politicians are using fake law enforcement agents in the state .
The DIG who was visibly angered with what he described as series of election complaints from politicians of various categories even even the election has not taken place advised against using such complaints to judge police preparations for the elections .
His words : Politicians are already charging the already charged atmosphere by making inflammatory statements
” Statements that are of security implication” said DIG Pedro who appealed to them to ensure peace in their utterances.
“Every body should tread with caution . We should give peace a chance by not making inflammatory statements” , he appealed.
” Politicians are using fake law enforcement agents ” revealed the DIG who however noted that “whether they are fake or real if they are arrested they will be in serious problem
“They are disturbing the electoral.process and I will not allow it ” added Pedro who also warned politicians against using election complaints to judge police preparations for the election .
” Since about three days I came here ( Bayelsa state ) , my ears has been inundated with complaints from several quarters . All of them.having to do with this election issue in Bayelsa state.
” Election complaints shouldn’t be used as a.case to judge police preparations
” Whenever such complaints come, we will surely investigate them” he said and appealed to politicians from all devide to stop condemning the police when the election has not even taken place.”
He expressed worries that he’s been bombarded with series of phone calls from politicians of all cadre presenting series of complaints .
He also denied tree gassing some protesting women who besieged the police headquarters Thursday evening .
On the alleged redeployment of Commissioner of Police in the state , CP Tolani Alausa, the DIG explained that Alausa is still the commissioner for Police Bayelsa state Command .
” He is still the CP Bayelsa State Command , and he is still the CP Bayelsa State election……he is still here”, Pedro said .
His statement has also doused off earlier speculations on the CP’s alleged abrupt redeployment following the protest by some women Wednesday.
